The Psychsomatics’ new album, “Seams of Expectation,” is a psychedelic journey of self-discovery. The album takes the listener on a winding path through the journey of life and providing the listener with breathtaking lyrics.
The album is full of lush, organic sounds that blend seamlessly together. The songs are long and winding, often morphing into something completely different by the end. This creates a sense of constant evolution, as if the listener is on a journey through the band’s own minds.
This is what the band had to say about the album
“If the sounds on Seam of Expectation had a physical embodiment, it would be swimming. You’re underwater in a pool, looking up as the light dances across the surface. It seems so close, so you reach up, missing a few times before you suddenly break through.”
They continued to say
“Seams of Expectation in a nutshell is about how we tend to make expectations of everything we think we want in life and when things don’t go our way it feels like everything is coming apart at the seams. You then have a choice on how to react, we can either accept defeat, or accept it as a challenge to create something even better. What once seemed tragic ends up being the reason for everything good that has happened in your life, it’s Kismet.”
The lyrics are just as complex and thought-provoking as the music. They deal with themes of betrayal, loss, and redemption. But they also offer a message of hope, as the band shows how they were able to overcome their challenges and create something even better.
Although some of the songs are short lived with the shortest being 2 minutes and 36 seconds “Seams of Expectation” boasts of have songs that a lengthy, a rare gem in modern day music, you could enjoy some of the songs up to 7 minutes 7 seconds, this gives you ample time to enjoy the song.
“Seams of Expectation” is an album that will stay with you long after you’ve listened to it. It’s a challenging listen, but it’s also a rewarding one. If you’re looking for an album that will take you on a journey, then this is the one for you.
