2022 saw the birth of the Trio Melt Motif with the release of the acclaimed ‘album A White Horse Will Take You Home.’ The album became a household song for lovers of good music, and it really received lots of reviews from music lovers and critics.
With a unique sound and exceptional vocals the trio are out with a new one titled Full moon. They do for sure sound unique, but to put it in context, names like Nine Inch Nails, Portishead, Goldfrapp and Depeche Mode are often mentioned.
In a recent interview with Mister Styx of Musicarenagh the band shared the inspiration behind their new album and some bits of their life.

Where do you find inspiration?
It can come from music by other artists and visual art and film. David Lynch, mainly as a film director, and his use of sound and music in his films is probably our most significant inspirational source.
Are you from a musical or artistic family?
Not especially musical, but creative. We have a lot of that in our family.
Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
No one in particular. It’s more about my huge interest in music and a need to challenge myself.
How did you learn to sing/write/to play?
I can’t sing, but luckily we have Rakel to take care of that. She’s also singing in a philharmonic choir and operas. I learned the basics of playing instruments as a kid, and by working in creative businesses all my life, like design and creative direction, writing comes naturally to me.
What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
Oh, I can’t remember the first ever concert as I did go to many as a kid. But the first to probably mean something special to me was Motörhead.
How could you describe your music?
Dark, different, and surprising.
Describe your creative process.
We are composing from two different locations on the planet, Brazil, and Norway, so we have our particular way. One of us comes up with something. It might be just a drum loop or a complete song. Then we share between us, iterating on it until we have a final piece. We always write the lyrics and record vocals in the end.
What is your main inspiration?
As mentioned, David Lynch. The way he is all about the art and how he challenges his audience is unique and inspiring.
What musician do you admire most and why?
I admire my band colleague Joe, who taught me not to overthink when creating music but to do whatever feels right.
What are your interests outside of music?
Art. Photography. Technology. And a lot more!
What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?
To get MIDI synced right, haha.
Why did you choose this as the title of this project?
On both our first album, A White Horse Will Take You Home, and our upcoming, Particles. Death Objective, the titles are text lines found in our lyrics. Again, probably inspired by David Lynch, we choose titles that might have different meanings and can be decoded differently by the listener.
What are your plans for the coming months?
We have lots of plans. We are preparing remixes of our songs done by other artists, we are doing a surprise cover song, and we are doing a sort of ambient cinematic project. We are doing some remixes for other artists too. 2023 will be a busy year when it comes to new releases.
Do you have any artistic collaboration plans
Yes, we collaborate with several other artists, mainly with remixes, and find that inspiring. A collaboration with the techno artists äbvsd has actually become our most streamed song on Spotify.
What message would you like to give to your fans?
We talked about inspiration, and I forgot the most important; The listeners who stream and buy our music. That is probably the most inspiring of all. Thank you so much!
