About Chris Goma
Chris Goma, born Christopher Ryangoma Tabaro on January 27, 1995, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, arranger, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist residing in Los Angeles, California.
Goma’s distinct sound (Hypno Funk) incorporates elements of rhythm and blues, hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz, and electronic music.
After his parents escaped the Rwandan Genocide, Chris Goma was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Ignace (Ntirushwamaboko) Ryangoma, Goma’s father, had obtained a full-bright scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston and had trekked over 100 kilometers with his pregnant wife, Marianne, and Goma’s older brother, Christian, to take a plane to the United States. With refugee status, Goma’s family migrated from Boston to Canada in 1997.
Goma’s father exposed him to music when he was a child. He began playing the keyboard when he was seven years old. He didn’t take up his primary instrument, the electric bass, until he was 12 years old.
He is presently located in Los Angeles, California, and his EP FREEDOM is out now!
